Hi Maz, thank you for the comment on my blog. The Mug Hug patterns came from a book by Val Pierce but to be honest, if you are a reasonable knitter once you have the basic idea you can play around with it quite easily.
Basic 'hug' cast on 7st (DK & 4mm needles) K2 rows - increase both ends of alternate rows until you have 17st - K64 rows straight - decrease either end of alternate rows until you have 11st - K2 tog, K3 yarn round needle, K2 tog, K2, K2 tog (buttonhole row) - continue to decrease until 7st remain - cast off.
