I would like to tell you...

...whats been keeping me so busy

Today I am holding a craft day for Kids, they are on half term here and so I decided to have a Children's craft class. As I only have a small workroom I wanted to keep the numbers to about 5, well as usual the class is proving to be really popular and so today we are having 2 classes of 5 girls to come and make a present for Mothers day.

I may have photos later but the Mum's don't know what they are making as its a surprise so I may keep the photos to show you another day.

To add to this 2 local Child Minders also want the class but as a kit to make with the Children they look after through the week so I have 9 kits to put together for this as well.

The sewing class went well and my ladies are already asking what they will be making on level 2, they make it sound like an NVQ course lol,  so now I am busy planning one day classes for when these courses have finished at the end of May. The sewing classes have become so popular I now have waiting list for them

I have however found time to make some things as well and have been busy with orders for these

Tea Rug

Cupcake Rug

Cupcake coasters
as well as orders for fabric bunting which I don't have photos of and all the shop orders so I have been a little busy.

I could do with 2 of me or a 48 hour day, I think the time may have come to employ someone to help out so I can concentrate on the classes and work groups and new ideas for the shop.

The shop will celebrate its first birthday on March 6th and am trying to sort out an online giveaway for this linked between my blog and Facebook, we will be having special promotions going on all that week at the shop so I am expecting quite a busy few weeks.

Well I am off to make a couple of Candy Bouquets before I head out to work, one for my Grandson Riley who is 3 today and the other for my Grandson Adam who is 8 tomorrow, I have another to make for my Granddaughter Lauryn who is going to be 11 on Saturday but I need some nail polish, lip gloss and a few extra goodies for hers before I can make that.

Phew what a long post, just hope someone comes and reads it all now and if thats you I hope you have a lovely day.

More new fabrics...

I loved this as soon as I saw it, its Vintage Couturier fabric by Robert Kaufman, I have to admit this picture is slightly blown up as the reels are not quite that big.

I have loads of pretty fabrics for girls and was looking for something for the boys when I found these, just perfect for little boys.

Oh Boy Dino

Oh Boy Vehicles
Just got to decide what to make with them all now, any suggestions?

Rag Wreath Class 1

Last night was the first of this weeks Rag Wreath classes for my Craft Club ladies, we had a full house with Julie, Helenne, Marie, Anna, Bev and Louise all waiting to have a go at making a rag wreath. By the end of the evening after much cutting and tying they had all made at least one and some of them made 2.

Here are a couple that I made to show how its done

My Cath Kidston inspired Wreath

Gorgeous Purples and Pinks.
Tonight I have to do it all over again with Susan, Leanne, Laura and Melissa but its a great way of making new stock for the shop whilst having fun and chatting with friends.

Sewing Classes - Group A - week 1....

... and it was extremely successful although a bit hectic at times  So a special Thank You to Laura, Lisa and Helenne who came along for the first class.

This weeks class was Heart Shaped Pot holders and Mug Rugs which just happen to be 2 of my favourite makes at the minute.

Here are the ones I made to demonstrate the process

I forgot to take photos of the ones made on Saturday but I will try better this week as Group B starts on Saturday and I will be making these all over again.

I also wanted to show you the finished table runner

all backed, quilted and bound.

I love this runner as the colours are so pretty and look lovey with my China tea cup ( the inspiration for the new colour scheme for my Kitchen) and my Coffee pot bought for me by my DIL Karen a few years ago for Christmas.
Other than that I have been working on a few new designs for Mother's day which I cant show you yet and keeping up to date with orders.

The next thing on my sewing 'To Do' list is Aprons, I have a few ideas for some Gift sets so watch this space

Off to get on with something to get me off this pc, catch you all soon!

What I have been working on today!

Last night my youngest daughter Sarah turned up at craft club armed with lots of wallpaper samples not because she wants to decorate a room, she lives in a rented house so cant use wallpaper. She bought them because she wanted to do something on a canvas with them.

Sarah had got a rather nice Teal and Chocolate paper which is the colour theme to her lounge and true to form she left them with me to 'Do something' with them and here is what I did

I cut the paper to the size of the canvas ensuring one of the large flowers was to the side, tore and inked the edges and then glued the paper to the canvas using good old PVA glue. I then cut out the rest of the flowers from the paper, there was 5 more. As I layered them I used my scissors to run along the outside of the paper to curl the petals inward and lifted the petals in different places with 3D foam tape.
The whole thing was then finished off by gluing a Teal coloured Mother of Pearl Button in the centre of the flower
Easy, quick and will look lovely hung on the wall near her dining table.
